“It’s a man’s world” is also the title of a song ending with the words: “he is lost, without a woman or a girl – he is lost.Is Frank Martin lost? He was a banker in Manhattan, who commuted to work by train from the suburb of New Rochelle, as many employees did.
He survived a car crash on New Year’s Eve but could not remember why he was so furious and drove so quickly. But in his delirium, he talked to an angel, who promised him the fulfillment of three wishes. The doctors did their best and he fell into coma.
His best friend, Paul De Sales, a math teacher in New Rochelle High School became an alcoholic but his girlfriend, Kathy Sullivan, who loved him so much, wanted to help him be cured, which seemed impossible. After he started being brutal, she contemplated starting a relationship with his best friend, Frank, but due to his third wish, he also turned into a monster, being disinterested and indifferent to all.
What made him this way? His first wish made him rich, as often is sung about in “Money makes the world go round” but he discovered money was not the most important thing in life. Why did his second wish not make him happy?
